      Interesting and challenging work. Talented staff.

      Cons

      Struggling as a business and as a result the atmosphere is poor. Currently downsizing. Technical staff are generally isolated from their peers external to the company. Internal research and development, as well as marketing dollars have dried up.

      Pros

      Battelle scientists do a lot of contract research. Depending on the division, the work environment varies. Pension plan WAS good. Used to hire innovative minds. Good facilities and instruments for applied research were available.

      Cons

      Turning to be a typical project management company and deviating from Gordon Battelle's philosophy. A lot of qualified scientists and engineers are leaving or left. Project managers and departmental managers are engaged in politics than applied research. Fresh engineers like to join and wanted to be the project manager within a short period of time. Lacking diversity.
