Cons
You're basically a technician with higher pay. This is more like an extension to your PhD - you are working as a bench scientist, wearing a lab coat and goggles and spewing out data that the commercials don't heed. Most of the research work in some groups is just overkill, to the point it's not even hilarious. If a lab scientist is what you want your career to be like then stay. Otherwise RUN and hop onto something that adds value to your career growth, even if it is for lower pay.
