Started as a new grad RN and unfortunately, COVID hit my unit in the middle of my preceptorship. They were accommodating enough to let me finish my training on a non-COVID unit. Leadership for my unit was very kind and supportive, and there was plenty of room to grow.

Cons

I wish we had more help. Even just one more CNA on the floor would have been great.

Cons

As a nurse in Florida, you have no ratios. I’ve had 7 patients, all fresh out of the PACU. It is in the strongest language that I say this: patients are not safe in the hospital in Florida. The errors I have seen, the trauma of not being able to help any of them because you get marked off if you don’t get meds to patients immediately.

BayCare offers a wide range of health care services at 16 hospitals and hundreds of other convenient locations throughout West Central Florida, including ambulatory surgery centers, behavioral health, HomeCare, imaging, labs, urgent care and a free-standing emergency department, among others.
