Pros

St. A's is my favorite hospital in St. Petersburg to work for, and I have worked at every hospital in town. They have an excellent benefit package. The employees' are helpful and cooperative.

Cons

They mostly hire R.N.s now which is good and bad. I would much rather have a military nurse or LPN with experience over a young kid out of college with only school smarts.

Pros

Good hospital to work at in general. It has a good reputation, treats employees with respect. The management is very willing to work around school schedules to accommodate furthering nursing degree. Good morale through out the company.

Cons

The benefits leave something to be desired, only 3 paid holidays, insurance is kind of expensive for what you get. They also require a lot of extra education in addition to getting a BSN.

Pros

I worked along side some dedicated, intelligent people.

Cons

I have never witnessed anything like the marketing department at BayCare. Like the other reviewer who works in the marketing department, I experienced ridiculous micro-management. Though they go to great lengths to hire educated, experienced professionals, they strip everyone of decision-making power and basically make them into admins. Using your brain is frowned upon; speaking your mind can get you terminated. After a short time, team members either quit (and I saw MANY go) or they adapt to the toxic environment by squashing their feelings and "drinking the koolaid." The marketing executive team are not just poor leaders, they are extremely insecure and will throw you under the bus with a smile. Before BayCare, I was an exemplary and happy employee, and I have once again regained that with my exit. But, while I was there, I was entirely miserable. I just could not extinguish the thought that my brain and opinions were, in fact, valuable. I think of my time spent in BayCare's marketing department like a prison sentence- time where my life stopped; I learned nothing; I saw the worst in people and I prayed for freedom. Fortunately, I made it out unscathed and am back to a normal work environment where I'm treated with respect and valued for my skills.
