Pros

Bonuses are good once you’ve stayed long enough AND stock is performing

Cons

It a male oriented German culture that speaks a lot about diversity but in fact top leaders in Germany give little opportunity to non-Germans. Females are expected to be seen and not heard. If you aren’t at least third generation German with his company, forget it

Pros

Stability, decent employee benefits and 401k, industry average to above management bonus program, and talented mid to lower level workforce.

Cons

Decision by consensus, excessive bureaucracy/red tape, conservative execution that limits out of box thinking, unrealistic expectations at the VP and above level, and internal politics which often lead to inconsistent decisions.

Pros

Pay is OK - but can be quite good also if you know how to negotiate. Some of the EEs were really great but they were beaten down and demoralized. The best part of working here was giving myself a Christmas present-- quitting.

Cons

I've been consulting for a decade and Bayer in Berkeley was the worst experience I ever had. Much of the facility itself is appallingly old and crumbling -- I got stuck in one of these windowless buildings in a room with a couple working light bulbs. Generally aggressive and combative work culture with political wrangling reminiscent of high school. Lots of passing the buck. Nobody wanted to work together and some were just hanging around until retirement. Messaging from the top - dedication to safety and compliance, etc - not in line with reality at lower levels where everything was ok as long as delivered on time.
