Pros

Makes the day go by fast

Cons

Poor management. Poor routing. If you don't know the area your delivering in very well you will be there 14 to 16 hours because they send you on one side of town for a delivery then to the other side of town for the next delivery then back over to where you just were. The pay is crappy for the hours you work. If your a route trainee it's even worse salary 800 a week but after Tax and insurance for the family it's like 400 to 500 a week and you work 12 to 16 hours a day...so it really comes out to like 10 an hour. If your a route driver you can bring home 800 to 1000 a week if you get the big loads but again that is working 60 to 70 hours a week. It's not a horrible gig but coming from working on a oil rig it sucks I worked 2 weeks a month and brought home double the money. Which is the reason I'm quitting and going back to the rig lol. Oh and they say your a family but it hardly feels like it. I have been there 2 weeks and seen 8 drivers quit lol.

Pros

You can make $50000-$60000 a year if you live at the warehouse... Clock in at 330 am deliver your route go eat sit around till your phone goes dead...then drive in and drag your feet doing paper work and talk with co workers till they kick you out.....clock out between 300-500pm if your lucky...in the winter better be gone by 2pm.

Cons

Get used to waking up at 2am..and riding the clock to make a living. Your back will get destroyed. I'm 26 and have terrible back problems still after 2 years...knees are a whole other story...better have a CDL if u wanna feed your kids...CDL help in $14/ hour.....top driver pay is a joke high $16/hr maybe low $17/hr by now......the work you do... The stress on your body and the stress from your Supervisor is in no way worth it. You have to be perfect and go fast doing it. Safety bonus are a joke $490 after taxes if you have zero wreaks or break nothing in the stores. Promotion is impossible unless u are best friends with upper sales managers. And what's the point you take a pay cut doing it to below $50k nobody cares about you your just a driver....trucks are a joke no power no jakes and 6-speed Allison Transmissions....Do yourself a favor and haul salt water for more money and less work. No 401k!!!! Profit sharing after 35 years will leave you with $30000....average american needs $2 million

Hostile work environment - Do not value diversity

Pros

Some people even higher executives were good to work with. In the beginning they valued my experience and what I had to offer showed gratitude with promotions and raises. Some employees were truly amazing and created a feeling of support and family.

Cons

Sometimes hostile work environment. From the beginning to the end I had to put up with horrible comments about the LGBTQ+ community and awful slurs from a lot of people including 2 direct managers, 1 supervisor, and multiple employees. Once was in front of someone from HR and nothing was done about it. Some executives/managers make you feel everyday like you may loose your job (not just me, many other employees have stated this directly to me). And when they know someone is going to be fired they flaunt it, keep "trophies" to scare employees and continue to talk bad about them afterwards. I experienced this first hand multiple times and has been confirmed by multiple employees. Sometimes the tension was so bad that people would check on me to make sure I was ok or I would have to hide that I was crying at my desk everyday. Sometimes the management you think you can trust know about these things and they sit by and let it happen. If you have a disability do not plan on working there long or having the same opportunities as those without. Executives will lie and tell you your place in the company is safe while allowing their direct subordinate plan your future termination. Do some internet searches and social media searches and you will see exactly how unsafe it is to work for Ben E. Keith. (add harassment and shooting to your searches.)
