Depending on the office and role, the position can offer a good work-life balance, manageable working hours, and flexibility to study while still gaining hands-on experience and completing assigned tasks.

Cons

Research assistant positions are sometimes transitioned or reassigned without sufficient advance notice to new students. Many positions are paid at minimum wage despite requiring higher education, specialized skills, or specific qualifications to perform the responsibilities effectively.

4 day work week in the summer, generous time off

Cons

Leadership is abysmal and/or nonexistent. Administration is top heavy, not enough 'worker bees'. When full time staff leave or retire, student workers are hired to fill the gaps as those staff positions are then eliminated (institutional knowledge disappearing).
