Pros

Always opportunity to move up. Whether youre entry level or VP, theres always someplace to go.

Cons

None. Pretty chill atmosphere. Always got to play cool music in the office. Had traveling opportunities. Cant say too many bad things.

Pros

Pretty good benefits - generous PTO, decent 403b match, and free tickets to local attractions. Extra perks if you're a musician - access to college facilities such as ensemble spaces and practice rooms. Yearly cost of living increase is nice.

Cons

Pay isn't great. Morale took a nose dive after the Boston Conservatory merger announcement. Career progressions is often times based on other people leaving or leveraging politics/favoritism.

Working at Berklee College of Music

Pros

I love working here. It's a wonderful culture. I can't speak for every area of the college (I work in administration, I'm sure faculty experience is different), but my co-workers are friendly and positive, and management is very flexible as far as paid time off and our telecommuting policy. Higher ed is more flexible than the private sector in general, but I find Berklee to be even more so. We work above and beyond our job description when required, but when it's quieter, management goes out of their way to make sure employees are happy with their work situation.

Cons

I feel I'm fairly compensated, but in higher ed, there's often a bit of a trade-off of salary for quality of life. Maybe I could make 10-15% more elsewhere, but you can't put a price on the flexibility in my schedule.
