Pros

An extra week off at X-mas and a few holidays. School snow days. Laid back atmosphere. Performing at a high level is optional. New/Different technologies are always being deployed.

Cons

Benefits and pay are not comparable to corporate equivalents. High turnover, low incentive to outperform your peers or even do more than the bare minimal. Metrics and stats on your work are rarely or never given any weight. Most times they aren't even seen by your manager. You will only ever get a cost of living raise and there are no bonuses.

Pros

The school has a feel like no other, it's easy to buy in to what they are doing because of the amazing talent and enthusiasm among the student base. They have the best intentions and want the best for the student body.

Cons

Easy to feel unappreciated and under compensated for the amount of work expectation. A lot of staff overturn, which causes problems when moving forward in plans.

Pros

The work environment is very casual in most offices, very few people wear suits/ties/business attire. Being surrounded by creative students and employees can be very exciting and there are always opportunities to get involved through various committees.

Cons

There is a lacking of systems/policies. Many offices have not changed since they began years ago and there is always a mentality of "this is the way it's been done". Middle management positions across campus are not very empowered to make decisions and senior management is very removed from the details, so often their decisions are sometimes off the mark.
