Pros

ROWE started with Best Buy - great promoter of work-life balance and working at the corporate campus is very convenient (full service banks, daycare, gym, great lunchroom, minute clinic, employee store... you can even get your oil changed and a passport). They made it very easy to be comfortable in your job and come into work every day. Great employee discount.

Cons

Leadership and management is dismal at best. Employee recognition is null, and the advancement of women and fairness to employees is non-existent. Even women who are part of WOLF (women's leadership forum - a employee resource group to help women network and build leadership skills) are constantly having to justify why it is important to have women in the work place as well as the importance of the women customer to all the male peers. There are organization changes and layoffs in one area or another every 4-6 months, so the job security is scarce. There is tremendous growth, which can be good if done right - Best Buy lets everyone run loose with little to no direction and then several different groups will be working on the same initiative all with huge capital funding and very high up positions leading it, but delivering no results... and then they change direction in the blink of an eye, don't communicate to anyone...

Pros

can see and test the latest electronics and games. meet some cool people. chicks dig gadget knowledge. can buy stuff with no problems and no waiting.

Cons

trying to push warranties and other crap products onto people who really do not need them. Really, what is the point of the magazines? we are an electronics store, not a bookstore. Stupid management always trying to screw the customers. The extended warranty is a joke and no one in their right mind should ever buy them. complete rip-off

Pros

While the pay may not be the best in the industry, Best Buy offers benefits that other companies simply can't compete with like product discount (cost plus 5%), stock options, 401k, health benefits, and vendor accommodations.

Cons

Retail positions are always stressful because sometimes the business is going to do great and sometimes it's not, and everyone takes the down times personally which can be very hard to get used to. Also, there can be a high level of drama in the store which can't always be avoided.
