Pros

I am extremely lucky to love what I'm doing and the people I work with, including my boss. I have very little experience with other departments and how they might be run, but speaking from my own experience this is a good place to work. There are also lots of employee perks that the estate offers, including an on-site clinic, an estate raised meat share, ticket giveaways, etc. I really appreciate those little things. Biltmore seems to be an inclusive place, they tout the need for diversity and inclusivity, and it seems to be at least in part reflected in their staff. They have just recently lifted a "no tattoos" mandate, and now employees are allowed to be tattooed (as long as tattoos are not offensive). I feel that this is a big step forward seeing as how tattoos have absolutely nothing to do with how professional you are, or are not.

Cons

The pay is not amazing. It's not necessarily bad, but it's not as good as I feel like it could be considering how much money this estate brings in, and knowing how expensive cost of living in Asheville is.

Pros

On site free health clinic HUGE PLUS Good benefits overall Badge gets you a lot of discounts across town Some landlords will give discounts on rental or applications Beautiful place to drive to work each day Work is really never dull Majority of people I work with are memorable and make it very difficult to leave; I have had many friendships last for years outside of work The people at the top really look for better and better benefits for even the newest staff Name recognition is huge even outside the area so great on work resume Safety is really a priority

Cons

Pay barely above cost of living with most beginning salaries (even with differential for odd hours) Communications has always been an issue Employment group tasked with hiring rarely updates or allows job descriptions to be updated even by management so hard to get on property to appropriate jobs WITHOUT job fair (since you deal directly with management); almost have to have inside connection to get through the employment wall (been that way a decade plus; very frustrating)
