Empty Promises

Pros

The coworkers and management at my location are great, but we are part of an acquired company.

Cons

Corporate is full of empty promises. They are constantly telling us they will be giving bonuses, raises, and profit sharing, then when the time comes they either push it out another year or remove it completely. Morale is extremely low. Employees have a constant fear of being let go or having their benefits taken away. Corporate is constantly changing the narrative and making promises they will not keep. There is also no PMO structure or cross-site cohesiveness.

Independence to question, explore, and answer engineering related details.

Cons

Management seems to not understand the work of their employees. Poor cooperation between cross-functional managers/directors. Cannot rely on managers for guidance. Often feel like you're walking in the dark on an unclear path....then become the scapegoat for managerial incompetence.

Pros

Good people to work with.

Cons

No one knows their roles. No one could explain what was expected for me from my role. They are non compliant on almost every auditable function of the business. They have secret profit sharing groups. The purposefully keep job descriptions vague so you take on more tasks than expected or than you can handle. A constant backlog of tasks because employees keep leaving. Management has used layoffs as a way to correct finances instead of attacking the root cause of the situation. No bonuses in over a year. Something needs to change in the management structure for this company to become a success.
