Operated within a self-driven work environment where the company provided competitive compensation. However, there were occasions when grandiose promises of future benefits were made, directly aimed at retaining myself and other staff members.
Cons
While the company had promising commitments, my experience fell short of those expectations. Temp workers were initially recruited through an agency with the promise of transitioning to full-time staff with benefits after a six-month period. Despite this commitment, many individuals found themselves continuing in temporary roles for an extended two-year duration, raising concerns about the fulfillment of the initial employment agreement and the long-term job security for these workers. Additionally, there was a substantial pay disparity between temporary workers and full-time staff, raising questions about equitable compensation practices within the organization. Overtime was frequently requested, and staffing levels remained consistently low. Unfortunately, safety training, particularly regarding hazardous conditions like electrical hazards, dirt, and water exposure, was lacking. Employees were often required to operate hydraulic lifts and forklifts without proper safety equipment or training. Expressing concerns about the safety of colleagues resulted in insults and demeaning responses. Management displayed a notable degree of hostility, engaging in personal insults and occasional yelling directed at employees. The use of offensive slurs to describe subordinates further contributed to a challenging work environment, especially for LGBTQ+ individuals. Having dedicated three years to the company, I played a crucial role in my department, providing training to numerous colleagues despite limited formal training myself. Despite my efforts to support the company, I found myself marginalized and eventually pushed out, purportedly due to not aligning with the perceived qualities of 'management material.'
