The company is filled with analytically smart individuals

Cons

Lack of leadership at the Managing Director level. No sense of teamwork with self-promotion dominating the workplace. The majority of the employees are angry geeks that lack basic social skills.

Pros

Prestige, everyone knows BlackRock. Easy to move around if you get bored with your current role. BlackRock University is awesome for technical and soft skill workshops.

Cons

Some of the managers never leave their offices and don't empower or talk to employees. Decent pay to start, and then it slowly (2-3% per year) creeps up, even for the great employees. I've seen this time and time again. Promotions are political, so you really have to network, which is a good if you're outgoing, but bad if you're shy even if you're an outstanding employee

Very well respected company within the industry with a fantastic breadth of resources available for choice projects.

Cons

Advancement is based purely on time spent at the company and has no connection to performance, skill sets or achievements within the company. If you are below Director level you will be treated with complete disdain as if you are an inferior human being to the Directors and above.
