Pros

Challenging work, provides opportunities for learning and allows people to create impact within the company. Management structure is flat and encourages interaction between different levels.

Cons

Work/life balance is tilted heavily towards work. Management expects certain number of hours/week in NY office (similar to an investment management workplace). Compensation is muted due to nature of asset management business.

Pros

Fairly easy going assignments and nice people to work with. Comfortable work space in cubicle farms with free coffee and plenty of time to use the free onsite fitness center. Great company to intern for as you can earn $1K per week.

Cons

CW's are lower paid and are not recipients of BlackRock's lofty annual bonus payouts to employees. Salaries are high given some associates have merely only a high school education, particularly in IT at the help desk level. Company management culture is somewhat flawed given it is true there is micro management at the senior level and decisions are made based on no rhyme or reason. Corporation walked away from massive housing project debt obligation in New York and given BlackRock's perceived stature in the financial services industry, this is not being a good corporate citizen!
