      Pros

      Smart people, everything feels important and the company has a great strategy. And the ETF business is crushing it.

      Cons

      the environment seems to create weak managers, the MD ranks are pretty poor managers, no connection to staff, and pretty out of touch. Not sure if it's because of the demands on them, or if BLK just hires/promotes people for the wrong reasons. I have found the deterioration of the work environment troubling - I once planned to spend my whole career with BlackRock and now i can't wait to get out of there.

      Pros

      Fast paced, work with intelligent people, always new projects to work on. Compensation during bonus time is reflected appropriately related to expectations and performance.

      Cons

      Work life balance in my department or the lack there of. Typically working 10+ hour days during month end and especially during quarters and year end. This causes significant turnover.

      Pros

      Great products and well-organized company. Able to organize well around market events and rally participation / strategy. Many smart heads at the top.

      Cons

      Large company so comes along with lack of accountability and many employees that are there for years but not adding too much value. Political / relationships get you far in some departments.
