Pros

Meaningful and Committed Clients: One of the best aspects of working at Blackbaud is the opportunity to engage with clients who are genuinely dedicated to their cause. As a technology provider for social good, Blackbaud attracts clients who are passionate about making a difference. It's rewarding to collaborate with them and witness their commitment firsthand. Remote Work Flexibility: Blackbaud's remote work policy allows for a great deal of flexibility. Employees have the freedom to manage their work from anywhere, as long as they meet their job responsibilities. This flexibility can be a significant advantage for maintaining work-life balance and reducing commuting stress. Trust and Reputation: Blackbaud's standing as the largest technology provider powering social good is a definite advantage. The company has earned a trusted name in the industry, making it easier to close business and establish credibility with clients.

Cons

Corporate Disconnect: One of the downsides of Blackbaud's size and public company status is a notable disconnect from the reality of challenges faced by smaller customers. This can lead to decisions and changes primarily driven by shareholder interests, often neglecting the specific needs of smaller organizations. The lack of understanding and responsiveness to these challenges can be frustrating for clients and impact the quality of service provided. Constant Staff Changes: Blackbaud's internal staff changes, particularly the rotation of account executives, can create difficulties for both clients and employees. Clients often find themselves having to re-explain their organization's nuances to new account executives every 6-12 months, which can be time-consuming and frustrating. For account executives, building relationships with clients becomes a challenge when another representative takes over and benefits from their foundational efforts. Siloed Work Environment: Despite having connected teams, the fully remote nature of Blackbaud's workforce can lead to a siloed work environment. Limited face-to-face interaction and physical separation can hinder cross-team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and overall synergy within the organization. Overall, Blackbaud provides an opportunity to work with passionate clients in the social good sector. However, the company's large size and public company status can lead to a corporate disconnect and frequent staff changes, affecting the customer experience. While remote work flexibility is a significant advantage, the siloed nature of the company's structure may limit collaboration.

Sad state of affairs

Pros

None that i can think of.

Cons

Total chaos from the top down. Leadership doesn't have a clue what Nonprofits actually value in a software vendor clearly. BB only cares about collecting invoice payments from Nonprofits, and how many fake paid "awards" they can apply for then blast all over LinkedIn about how amazing they are. Guess what people, Blackbaud pays money to get these industry awards, and in no way are they a representation of what clients think about Blackbaud. It's super sad how this company went from one of the best to one of the worst run charades in the Nonprofit Tech industry. I feel horrible for the nonprofits who are held hostage by Blackbaud.

Pros

Love Blackbaud’s remote first policies. They respect family/personal needs. The people are great to work with!

Cons

Hard to move up the corporate ladder unless you’re friendly with the right people. Hard to prove your worth due to red tape and not being allowed to pursue projects that could showcase one’s talent.
