      Middle Management is bad, stay away unless you have unless you do not have options

      Pros

      - Operations staff are nice, but lack direction and do the same things repeatedly. - You will get some amount of fintech experience in processing. - The CEO is great and humble

      Cons

      - Director-level and Up management (at least in my area) is just horrible, de-motivating, and operates by threatening employees. - Prioritize talking to and helping employees who do the actual work and get feedback (Pulse survey does not work). Reduce the management layers. - The company should hire leaders who motivate excellence and empower employees - Differentiate high-performing employees with bonuses.

      Pros

      Blackhawk has some very talented people working for it and the company tries to take care of employees with a lot of extras, such as company-wide days off, unlimited PTO for US employees, and remote work. Managers tend to be good people to work with.

      Cons

      The company is made up of a series of acquisitions, which means no systems really talk to each other. Most systems at the company use silo-ed data and rely on heavily manual processes. There's no real incentive for product or technology to fix it because they're focused on developing projects to make the next big sale. Often times, what you think is a standard report with good numbers is actually just a manual spreadsheet maintained by a staff level employee and mailed out once a month. Blackhawk wants to be a technology / product company, but it actually operates like a CPG company.
