Not a real company

Pros

Making friends with other people who are also struggling because they work there

Cons

Zero direction. Managers who play favoritism. Misleading if not flat out lying to employees. This place is a giant struggle. Everyone is jumping ship, or being let go in groups. This problem started well before Covid 19. They have ZERO direction. I don't think it will be around much longer, at least not under current leadership!

Pros

you meet dope people who are all smart enough to realize this company is full of frauds.

Cons

• disgustingly underpaid... way, way underpaid • leadership isn’t qualified enough to even be an executive assistant let alone “oversee” a man entire department • morgan: sis, smile at the people who are keeping your company afloat because you sure are NAWT • love: go sit down somewhere • did i mention underpaid? • disorganization almost makes you feel like you’re in a parallel universe 60% of the day, everyday • transportation/parking: previous reviews (which were very high key paid for) say “that’s just dtla”. which is a lie. this company is too cheap to cover the costs of the employee’s commute to work. it comes out of your paycheck. a pathetic tragedy. • snacks: el oh el... that applesauce in a tube and flavorless oatmeal ain’t it. I’m good luv, enjoy. • cheap: don’t invest in any softwares • underpaid • people quit before and after lunch everyday and the company tries to pretend nothing is happening • contractors: they make it clear you’re nowhere near being a member of the blavity family

Pros

Exceptional people with a diverse set of backgrounds!

Cons

I could write a book about how horrible working at Blavity is, but it seems some other reviewers have covered a lot of what I’d point out. The root of most of Blavity’s problems is simple though…2 words: Morgan DeBaun! I suspect that Morgan has been allowed to remain the CEO for this long due to the potential optics and how she would frame it if she was to be fired…nothing else makes sense. She is simply a bad CEO. I wanted to like this woman so much. Think about it: A young, talented, and accomplished black woman running a team of exceptional individuals…I was on board instantly! But then you start to witness how much this woman behaves like a teenager…bizarre, to say the least. Not to say that every single person who works here hates it, buuuuut a dangerously high number of people are planning their escape. I love that we’re soliciting fake reviews again…that’s how you know the ship is sinking. One of the latest very “real” reviewers said: “I think that management/leadership needs to be less hesitant to let people go.” I haven’t laughed this hard in a while…Morgan would fire you if she didn’t like what you ate for breakfast this morning. How sad that the ship is sinking this badly that we need people to come on here and lie for us. Join this company at your own risk! You’ve been warned.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and perspective. As we continue to evolve the company culture, we are looking to build out new internal structures that aid employees and Hiring Managers to create open and transparent dialogue; regular cadence of feedback on employee performance; feedback on Executive communication and Leadership styles. The goal is to create and strengthen transparency and trust among employees, People Leaders, and the Executives. As an organization, we can all learn from each other, take a collective responsibility, and continuously work to collaborate as one unit to achieve our company Mission and Vision.
