Pros

Block by Block is a great place to learn new skills in a professional environment. The people are fun, kind, and very passionate about what they do. Granted, being in the corporate office is different than being in the field, so this review won't relate to every associate. If you are a young professional in the Louisville area you should keep an eye out for open positions. However, there are negatives like in any company.

Cons

The pay is low for some positions both corporate and in the field. Benefits are bad, which includes a non-matching 401k, expensive health insurance, and two weeks of vacation "if even that."

Pros

It's weekly pay, so there's that. If you enjoy working overtime, there's plenty of that, too usually even though (unless it's a special event like the US Open) they cap your overtime at 60 hrs. And the rate of pay is higher than your typical security/retail job.

Cons

Any "supervisors" are really glorified babysitters. Some of them are really cool, but some of them take the job entirely too seriously and make it an effort to try to get you in trouble for anything. They have rules that make it impossible to maintain any employees long term. And the capital punishment...basically, if 1 person messes up, everyone suffers. They used to give you bus passes. One person abused it, now nobody gets them. In extreme weather conditions, you used to be able to sit in the booth. 1 person messed up, now you're limited in the booth. It's not sustainable.

Thank you for taking the time to review this role. Transit Ambassadors work hard but make good money. It' s a lot of responsibility too. Block by Block appreciates your hard work and wish that you'd had a better experience. Unfortunately, this contract has strict rules of engagement and guidelines that we are contractually obligated to fulfill. There is always that "one" Ambassador that spoils it for everyone else. These two are good examples of things we have no control over.
