Pros
Great colleagues. Open, collaborative environment. Great benefits. Beautiful office space. Training opportunities. Good work/life balance. Free drinks and snacks. Good culture for the most part.
Cons
Work often dull and uninspiring. Almost zero greenfield development takes place. This is due to massive amounts of poorly written legacy code heavily relied on for business to continue running. Tons of red tape. Stuck using antiquated tech like C++03, FORTRAN, AIX. Ton of wasted productivity due to long build times and migration efforts to Linux that should have started 20 years ago. Favoritism in promotion process in some cases(people 2 years out of training class with no project mgmt experience promoted over veterans with track records of producing results) Since 2016 raises have generally been below inflation for many across the firm. Firm becoming more political over time with managers focusing on presentation more than delivery.
