It all depends on who your manager is... Is he a "made" man, or an outsider?

Pros

Great technology direction! It's found the way again! (They lost it at one point!) The freedom to do what you need to without someone breathing down your neck is great! Decent wages.

Cons

The company made bad technology choices, and made its employees suffer for it. The freedom really comes from the fact that there is no one to do the job anyway, cos all the managers below the "inner circle" are looking up in case the next shit-storm catches them unawares! The decent wages means people will stay professional but will happily move the moment they find something they can be passionate about. It's a job... No more than that, unless you belong to the "made" crowd in which case you get stocks, bonuses, and "termination" clauses that protect you with hundreds of thousands of dollars if they restructure you out...

Leading technology, lots of opportunity

Pros

Technology: Cyber security is hot right now, Gartner rates them in the Magic Quadrant Benefits: Matching 401K, competitive salaries, company doing well so bonuses are excellent Other: Free snacks, drinks, bagels on Friday, lots of social activities with food served, however no in house cafeteria but lunches are subsidized. Culture : Hard working people, flexible working environment with lots of autonomy (but it depends on area you work in). Work life balance flexibility, feels like a small start company but with reasonable processes and systems in place.

Cons

-Owned by private equity company, no equity offered, starting to lose people to other companies who are. Management needs to do something. -Rumer's of being a potential acquisition target is causing some uncertainty with employees especially those who want to stay in a small company.

Puts food on the table, if not much else

Pros

Good healthcare, although each year they cut it back a little. They provide food often on fridays and it is an okay place to work. You know whats expected and what to expect.

Cons

Since they were bought out things are gradually slipping down. I interviewed and was hired for an IT administrator position but now only do office administrative work and hardly actually touch a computer which is detrimental to my career growth. Cut backs yearly to benefits and somewhat esoteric and counterproductive systems are used. Plus pay isn't great and there is not a lot of negotiation.
