Pros

Decent pay, good hours, unlimited overtime

Cons

Excessive workload, terrible communication, tons of wasted man hours on bureaucratic nonsense. Oh, and they'll fire you for no reason without being able to look you in the eye and tell you why you're being fired with no warning and no severance after uprooting your whole life to come work for them. Don't ever work for Blue unless you have a backup plan and significant savings. Not to mention they cut corners at every turn, ignore inspection criteria to "use as is" and keep production moving. Blue is a toxic work environment from the top down. Some great people work there, but management and engineering, no.

Pros

There are some very intelligent, capable, and trustworthy people working at Blue Origin. The Blue Moon project and team are inspiring.

Cons

Senior leadership (especially the COO and his cronies) are impotent and over the last couple years have built a toxic environment that does not foster original thought, innovation, or the pursuit of real success. Instead it only uses the stick to motivate people and sacrifices great people to make a point, but never teaches what that point is. Hence why Blue Origin did not break 10 million viewers for a launch of astronauts to the ISS this past weekend. Due to the toxic environment, the company works in silos where teams and team members do not share solutions, information or work well together to accomplish team or company goals. This leads to overly complicated designs and solutions or policies to be created that only work in a narrow set of circumstances. Aside from the Blue Moon initiative and team, the other programs are chasing solutions that are not innovative or advancing aerospace technology in any meaningful way, most of which do not even work after years of development. There has been a mass exodus of many intelligent, high performing people talent leaving for other companies over the last 2 years, including myself.

Pros

-Motivated, talented and passionate teammates -Exciting technology, exciting mission

Cons

-No incentive to perform. People routinely perform job scopes beyond their role, and management refuses to promote them regardless of how much work or time they put in to critical projects. No bonuses, no real equity, annual raises that barely match inflation, managers that fight you on promotions rather than advocating for you. -While internal advancement paths are essentially dead in the water, new leadership keeps getting pulled from "legacy" aerospace companies all the time. Week by week, the hierarchy just keeps getting fatter with managers whose contribution is questionable. -Not learning from mistakes. Multi page memos get written on lessons learned from a failed project, and then a new program gets stood up and proceeds to make the exact same mistakes. -Leadership says the right things but does the wrong things. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me 50 times I have no faith in management anymore. -Penny pinching on simple things like snacks because they are "too expensive" when company morale is at an all-time low -Combative processes that work against the end user instead of for them. Processes come from the top down, and management does not listen to the end users when they voice complaints. Blue Origin has everything on paper to enable success. Long term funding, a strong strategic vision, passionate employees on the ground level. Yet somehow, it has morphed into an incompetent, toxic trainwreck of an organization.
