Pros

Flexible schedule for part-time work, going to college. I loved working 1-1 with clients instead of working in preschool environments that are chaotic. Paid training on day 1 and throughout the first 40 hours. Opportunity to advance, obtain raises over time and assessments, and go back to school to get your BCBA while working.

Cons

Lost of levels of RBT to support leadership and growth. The schedule is different each day but pretty much open 8 am - 6 pm to fit your needs. If a client cancels then sometimes your hours are canceled, but the clinic is great about supporting you on some occasions with administrative time to help offset cancellations (which are rare). Although you are 1-1 with clients, when working with children with autism there can be combative behavior. All staff receives training in this as well. You also have to work a certain number of hours each week to receive benefits (unknown) but RBTs are highly needed due to client waitlists across the state, country, and locally.

Thank you for helping us change the world for children with autism! We strive to create an inclusive environment for all where they grow in their profession and feel fulfilled in the amazing work that they’re doing. We also value your feedback on the topic of training significantly. Our goal is to provide a level playing field for all by offering additional training opportunities throughout the year as well as a month-long clinical conference. Flexible schedules are important to us and understand that needs may change throughout. Often center leadership can offer alternative hours, make-up sessions with a client, or hours at a neighboring center when cancelations happen. We will continue to provide ways to support our teams and enhance the workplace culture. Thank you!
