Pros

Not sure what the PROs are really outside of receiving a store discount.

Cons

The company does not out right speak valuing the service of their minority workers. The workers endure poor treatment from privileged. Blue Mercury clientele often feel entitled to belittle the service workers who are paid by them. Blue Mercury does not make it clear in their stores that if you can respect the service workers who are assisting you do not shop here, but rather cater the privileged white woman because she is buying Lamer eye cream. Clients come in on a regular basis demeaning working class people implicitly and explicity in an aggressive manner everyday. Leaving minority's workers feeling demean emotionally and psychologically. Blue Mercury clientele and non-black workers display covert racism on daily basis. It is one thing to advertise/highlight black brands its another to actually genuinely recreating an inclusive no tolerance classist racist environment. The client has in their mind they can treat minority workers this way because they are paying our salary and think its a commissioned environment. Non-black by standers say nothing to label the customer difficult and high demanding. You also see the lack of black minority leadership within the Company and yet a conscious brand like Blue Mercury does not reflect the internal workings of inclusive and welcoming environment. Black Americans do not want to be treated as tokenism for corporate gain. We want equal pay and opportunity to contribute, grow and learn like everyone else. Strong covert bias and racism exist heavily in this environment. To the point is normalized. A white female coworker and vendor partner used the word "ghetto" to describe the quality of the store in Georgetown. I was shocked and she had no problems retracting her statement or possessed any emotional intelligence to realize what she said was racist, classist and ignorant. Does not provide minority with equal competitive salaries and opportunities. Often times the minority workers leave because of the on-going circumstances and Blue Mercury does not seem to care because they deem it as a "personal problem"
