Pros

I've been with bluemercury a little over a year and have enjoyed the opportunities that come with being part of a fast-paced, growing company! The size of the company allows you to mold your role and have the ability to have direct impact on the day to day business decisions. Even as we continue to grow, the company maintains a very entrepreneurial approach where opinions and ideas are appreciated and matter. I have also noticed that the corporate culture has continued to strengthen over the past year or so - something that is very important to me. The company has hired some wonderful, driven and incredibly talented people who enjoy working together to better the company. My experience so far has been very positive.

Cons

Since the company has small, family-owned business roots, some of the policies and infrastructure that you would expect from what is now a bigger company don't always exist. You need to be able to self-manage and have initiative, but it is sometimes difficult to understand or ask how certain processes are supposed to work if they aren't always there. As an employee I have found that it is important to have discussions with management (doors are always open - great line of communication) when things are not well defined, because they are usually willing to help explain how to better develop a process for the future.

Pros

The stores are all located in great neighborhoods and easy to get to. It's a fun work environment with tons of beauty products and the customers are mostly sweet and love shopping there. They are super generous with samples and offer great spa services and events, which makes it fairly easy to get customers love the place and you. They ll ask you to add your personal touch and want you to plan small events and then get credit for it. Love that. Their mission is pretty straight forward and if you have somewhat common sense, you can quickly navigate through all their processes. You do need to have some sort of business sense. At times it definitely feels like you are running your own store. They open stores everywhere right now. Definitely good place to stay and start a career. Management seems invested and supportive and offers weekly reviews about performance. Sometimes a little pressured but I get it. It's retail. They offer benefits, 401k, a bonus for hitting your sales goal, weekly contests and prizes and a discount on all the products they sell. Really like that spa.

Cons

Not alot of product training initially. Definitely helpful coming with lots of make up experience. Schedules is posted a bit late at times. Staff is small, if someone calls out you may need to jump in for them.
