Don’t expect to utilize officer discretion as well as any use of force even if warranted. You will be suspended and or terminated for doing your job per the job description of a police officer and are given a security guard field training with the expectation of being a police officer. You will also be terminated for making mistakes due to lack of experience and training. The officer oath says to uphold the laws of the State of Ohio but Mercy Health officers are advised to look the other way and not take action on many crimes that happen in their presence to include traffic and criminal offenses. Department leadership doesn’t exist and is run on the good ole boy system rather then having qualified people lead the department. Leadership doesn’t reprimand racist supervisors and fails to keep staffing at safe levels due to the toxicity of the work environment and the restrictions it places on its officers.
