Pros

- Decent crash course in auction industry (6 months and you will have the basics down) - They run a lean ship, expect to learn how to do everything on your own (which some might consider a positive) especially if you are the lone Specialist for a 'department' or sub-division - Interesting inventory (if you ever have time to see it)

Cons

- Terrible management, the most disorganized company I've ever worked in with most departments with no one at the helm - Compensation fraud, I was lied to about my bonus and never received it, I had it in writing and it didn't make a difference, watch out for that - Long hours, expecting FT employees to work 8am-9/10pm and never take PTO is a horrific way to treat people - Chairman and leadership do not take Covid-19 seriously and have asked employees to 'take your masks off' and 'show your faces' while in the office. Putting new employees on the spot like that is not okay. - Subpar working conditions with the NY offices offering a few seats in the basement of their headquarters and open office hot-desking, and LA offices consisting of dust covered cubicles (bring your own office supplies because Bonhams wont offer you any) -

Pros

Very small intimate work environment with a variety of departments working in close proximity. You can overhear very exciting deals being brokered and learn from those that have time to share their knowledge. The positives stop there though.

Cons

Outdated office environment ...Think cubicles and carpeting from the 80's in a very exciting color of gray. It is actually quite a shock to walk into something like this and find the will to return to work. Outdated mentality to approaching sales and deals. If you oppose department heads you will be excluded from internal meetings. Low pay, unclear bonus structure, made up titles and policies that change without any reason. Little to zero training, the in-house database is a thing of nightmares. Someone mentioned the hen house and I can confirm it is a thing! I cant tell what half of these individuals actually do to make anyone's job easier but they certainly seem busy with themselves. Extremely low morale all around, high turnover, you get the picture.
