Pros

From an IT perspective, Booz spared little in the way of new technologies. This kept the IT sections of their offices on the forefront as newer innovations came to the marketplace. There was a strong sense of team building and team spirit when I worked there (that part I miss greatly). Great resource and resume building environment, highly collaborative and engaging.

Cons

Life to work balance still was on the rough side. The self-evals reviewed here are not an exaggeration. On one side I can see the value of how their approach works, on the down side however, the time it takes to process evaluations cuts into an already busy work day.

Pros

I get to work with smart, professional, and engaging people every day. In general, management is supportive of letting you work according to your own style. I never feel micro-managed. Work-life balance is pretty good and benefits/401K/vacation is at industry standard. The firm is very supportive of the community and has a great program to donate funds to organizations that employees volunteer at. I feel like everyone is committed to a high standard of values and mission.

Cons

I've seen many colleagues hit a career plateau at the 5-10 year mark and move on to a competitor. The current career path structure does not currently allow for employees that want to become functional/technical experts instead of business managers. Hopefully this will change soon. Once you've been here for awhile, it seems like the time and resources dedicated to your career development diminishes year by year. It's hard to get management to approve external training/conferences and equipment (updated software licenses/hardware) that's necessary to do your job . It's easy to have your career path become stagnant, especially if you are on a long-term project. The emphasis is on keeping you billable, not necessarily advancing your career needs. As others have said, the assessment process is cumbersome and just not very effective.
