      Pros

      The flexibility offered by the job and the prestige of the firm.

      Cons

      Leadership varies WIDELY across the firm. The successful teams that are exciting to work on and offer professional growth oppportunitie are the ones that are managed by strong leaders. There are a few, less established teams that lack consumate leaders and it is evident that they have no vision or strategic direction for the team. It is also apparent that their employees are dissatisfied and turnover is is higher on those teams.

      Slower pace and risk averse, but good work-life balance

      Pros

      Employees generally enjoy a great work-life balance for a well-regarded consultancy. Career growth below the Sr. Associate level is largely employee-driven and thus there is a lot of flexibility to steer your career in the direction of your choice. There's no up-or-out system as exists with private-sector consultancies.

      Cons

      Given the nature of government consulting, projects can sometimes be slower-paced and long-term efforts (1 year or more)--as a result, many employees experience less variety in their work than they might otherwise like.
