Pros

The brand name is still top-notch, and the firm definitely sets itself apart from other government contractors in the way it moves to bring people into the culture. While we may no longer do traditional management consulting, I have worked for a competitor in the DC area where I was hired in, brought into the main office for one half day to sign my contract, and shipped off to client site for the rest of my tenure (seeing my "manager" only twice over 2 years). I am impressed with the length Booz Allen goes to in bringing us into the fold.

Cons

Unsure about the future given the split. Already there is word that our reputation is diluting, which bothers me as a recruit who was brought in under the more traditional recruiting mold (industry background, top-10 professional degree). Unsure that a move towards classic government consulting may push the firm to abandon it's management consulting structure/roots to focus on the more traditional GC route -- i.e. hire and fire, hire to place, don't waste time on making people identify with the company/firm. Also wondering how our 10% contributions will play out in the next few years given the split -- we had $4b in revenues as a merged firm, what will they be with the split?

Pros

the 10% ECAP contribution is very nice. They are currently experiencing growth where other companies are not. They give new parents two weeks paid time off. They have lots of free food available in the office. They have decent pay comparable to other companies in the area. They have lots of office locations in the DC area so you will more than likely not have to commute far to get to the office. They reimburse a portion of grad school each year. They offer 40 hours of training per year. They reimburse some commuting expenses. They have onsite day care.

Cons

The company is experiencing phenomenal growth, but they are not growing the pay rolls at the same clip. They only offer 3 weeks paid time off for Level 2 and below. Most other consulting company offer much more time off than this. They have at least 15 different computer systems that are not tied together for payroll, HR, benefits, hello.bah. They should have single sign on. They are tight on works space in the DC offices. It is hard to get promoted to level 4 & above. There are too many level 3s. They do 100% federal government contracting. They do not have a lot of international work. They are primarily only in DC & a few other areas.
