Most of the work done in this office requires a security clearance and having an active clearance is very advantageous in this area of the country.

Cons

Booz Allen and Hamilton in the Linthicum Maryland office is a very competitive working environment, meaning that your colleagues are all working against each other to try to obtain work and assignments. This corporate culture has created an environment of mistrust of others motives, lack of information sharing, misinformation being provided across the organization and a general cut throat mentality.

Great people doing challenging work

Senior management is mostly hired in - there is almost no chance to work your way up the corporate ladder. Advancement within the firm is dependent on your ability to cultivate and maintain "patrons" that help you advance - while the firm pays lip service to objective "criteria" for advancement, especially at senior consulting levels, the truth is that the criteria have no bearing on promotion - the only criteria that matters is your boss's willingness to push for your advancement.

Pros

High caliber people on certain teams. Flexibility in the type of work you can pursue. Interesting projects. Good amount of time off support for training activities. Internal training of a variety of types is available, in-person, online, self-paced. Funding for external training is also available. Assessment process is focused on feedback, it is a 360 degree assessment process involving substantially more that manager input. At the Associate level four to five weeks of vacation are available, as well as health insurance, and ten percent profit sharing at the end of the year, long-term disability insurance and life insurance are also available.

Cons

Difficult to move beyond Associate level. Caliber of management can vary a good deal from team to team.
