Pros
I was just promoted to Associate after being a Senior Consultant for one year and received a massive raise. I worked my ass off and went above and beyond what a Senior Consultant is expected to do. If you don't know how to get promoted or if you think you may be doing something wrong, get a senior mentor located in another part of the country (or get a couple like I did).
Work very hard, help others, be friendly, dress well, be aggressive. Those are the things needed to succeed in this company. I'm in my early 20's and I was worried that I would be discriminated against because of my youth. They embraced my ideas, work ethic, attitude and business I am able to bring to the firm.
This company has 25k people so naturally different parts of the country and different teams will work differently. My experience may be due to the fact I have a great team and my ambition is seen as a good thing for the company. Other teams may try to stop others from rising. Just like the military, bases differ in moral and attitude.
I've received only support from my senior leadership (including my principle). I've been able to speak with Senior VPs about my ideas. When I ask for feedback about my work, I get it the brutally honest truth and fix what needs fixing.
If you feel stagnant, do something about it. Change teams, move to a different part of the country within Booz Allen, ask your supervisor to give you opportunities to get promoted, ask for more work. I wish everyone the best of luck and happy holidays!
Also, don't suck up or brown nose. The best of managers can smell it and will make sure you don't get promoted.
Cons
I see myself possibly having issues in the next few years with my work/life management. It's really what you make of it, and I love it.
