Pros

The benefits, compensation and perks are good, and people are nice.

Cons

Lots of empty promises made on what's possible and how much they care about your success. They will give you all the perks but at the end of the day you are working like a dog, and managers are not concerned about you burning out. The partners are allowed to disrespect and talk down to you without accountability...management does not have your back.

Pros

Great coworkers- all smart and very personable and friendly Great perks - travel benefits, lunches, dinners, retreats, etc. Beautiful office and location As a DS, you get to pick up a certain skillset that you wouldn't get anywhere else

Cons

Hours, hours, hours If you don't realistically think you want to be partner one day, the ROI on staying diminishes sharply after about 1.5-2 years The work itself can be very lean on the DS and very high on the coding and slide making

Pros

BCG Gamma definitely is a partner with the classic side. The team values your opinions and contributions and you have the ability to have an opinion on what direction things go. You’re not just a code monkey for consultants. You work on super high priority projects for Fortune 500 companies and generate a ton of value for them.

Cons

The work life balance can be bad. It depends entirely on your manager, but you’re always a roll of the dice away from having no life for the entirety of your next project (3-6 months typically). The data science work can get tedious. You get hired because there’s a problem they don’t know how to fix, so typically you can’t do anything advanced to solve the problem.
