Pros

-Free health insurance if you choose BMC Preferred Plan -Paid Weekly -Lots of vacation time Vacation time was great, so amazing that when I left this place, I didn't use any of it and got a nice vacation check to my next employer.

Cons

-Horrible Work/Life Balance -Disconnect between employees and managers in ITS -Average for Pay -ITS follows by BU and Doctors guidelines -No Shared Responsibility in ITS I left due to limited growth opportunities, I was unhappy within the dept because of lack of communication and proved myself via my education, work ethic, communication skills. 3 of the same jobs I applied for, a contractor got each over me, a full time permanent employee.

Pros

Wonderful hard working medical staff Generally respected employer Plenty of possibilities for growth (at least on paper) Academic feel for some BMC positions There will be a SubWay (sandwiches) soon!

Cons

Major financial debts may be too much for BMC to handle Major (long time) senior executives have departed Far too many "managers" Very little Attending (physician) executive leadership and ineffective outside MDs as Vice Presidents Confusion persists about basic day to day operations - "Surges" result that exhaust staff Horrible IT management and systems Very entrenched Union mentality (especially SEIU) in HR's operations BMC conflicts with Boston University too common - need to work together Physical Plant Infrastructure is in poor shape due to excessive square footage of real estate Turnover high lately and moral not very high overall compared to other local medical centers

Pros

Great opportunities for clinicians...to see a vast array of patients

Cons

Feels very impersonal, institutional and somehow anti-intellectual.
