there was a weird situation with customer support on one floor, and sales, engineering etc on the another. there was a weird unspoken class divide. they didnt do much more than try to be inclusive. i was infantilized and treated almost like I was done a favor by being hired there. security was cool; some of the more personable bunch.

PayPal has taken what once used to be a pride of tech in Chicago, an example of great work culture, empathy, and engineering, and dismantled it completely. They stripped all of the teams from working with each other, reduced Braintree to just a name, a product in their lineup, and (intentionally) killed everything that made Braintree a unique and exciting place to work for. Braintree is gone. If you come here, you're just working as another cog in the PayPal machine. Except its worse, because of how poorly they handled everything, the teams and the products are in shambles due to constant restructuring and attrition.
