Pros

Amazing leadership. Top notch culture. Incredible flexibility. Fully transparent. A team on a mission. Truly wonderful place to work.

Cons

No office (fully remote). Team is really spread out, and I haven't met some of my coworkers I have worked with for a year. No IT support for work from home gear.

Pros

Remote. Solid compensation. Some really good and motivated people on the team. Solid pitch.

Cons

Poor onboarding handled using a google doc with a bunch of links. Almost nonexistent synchronous communication and follow-up on understanding the basics. 90% asynchronous communication using google docs comments as "Slack is too noisy". Love to look into other networks for talent and client "attraction". Trashing competition in meetings instead of learning what the competition does well and figuring out how to differentiate. Decisions are often made ahead of investigating viable paths and angles. The idea of weekly internal all-hands syncs is great, however, somehow it often turned into self-praise sessions without real progress seen on the ground. Lots of repackaging of old stuff just to show "progress". Unusual ways of making talent do the work the organization should.

Pros

As a remote-first company, you would think it would be hard to feel connected to your coworkers and leaders. This is not the case at all -- the people who work at Braintrust are some of the most hardworking, motivated, and kind people I've met. Everyone is working towards a common goal, and there is a huge amount of cross-team collaboration. The mission of our founders is lived out in the work we do every day, and it's a really awesome feeling to know that you're actually working on a project that will change the freelance marketplace for the better.

Cons

If you are worried about not having an office to go into, then maybe this isn't the place for you. (I always thought that would be a requirement for me, but I've actually adjusted to it well.) Be ready to hit the ground running!
