There's good and there's bad

Pros

Overall good company with decent benefits and excellent "profit" based bonus program. Top management is first rate and seem to have both vision and ability to make that vision reality.

Cons

Mid management...CSO, CIO, CFO level...seem to depend more on external consultants and with frequent revolving door, the "vision" changes every 3 or 4 years. IT organization seems to have a hard time realizing it's own potential and communications, despite efforts to improve and be more transparent, seems to be worse now than ever. Recent re-org efforts seemed to turn into a house clearing despite communication to the contrary so the credibility of current management is not very high. Efforts to attain a "Premiere Place to Work" designation seem to have become a platform to drive management objectives and vision.

Pros

Company benefits are decent. Pay is on par, Large percentage of people there are quality people and do good work.

Cons

Senior leadership is very reactionary rather than strategic. Top 2 IT leaders are very weak in leadership, IT experience and qualifications. C suite touts principle and vision, but acts very differently. Business leaders do not prepare well for external impacts. Unethical actions by senior leaders is allowed.

Get in the Game!?

Pros

If you get in the right store with the right manager and the right district manager who cares about you as much is your numbers. Your lucky. Training based for purely performance driven selling skills. Promotions are if easy if you hit your credit card and tired directives monthly. Hi caliber talent to be store manager in less than a year expect three to five years of store manager if you want to get into senior management. The political landscape is a good ole boys club from the store up.

Cons

They like to run a skeleton crew no more than 3 sales teammates per store which means you're usually working by yourself with another teammate any given day. Expect to work every holiday and weekend. Noobs get every Sunday especially with a store manager who probably doesn't want to work Sundays but has to work every Saturday. Your only as good as your last operating statement. Management picks at every overtime hour missed breaks get you threatened with a write you up or termination. Management will not provide you extra crew will always swear they can do it better than you but most haven't done a thing and if they ever did it was a long time ago.
