Red flags

Pros

Big budgets and lots of resources to experiment.

Cons

BJ promotes this in-house created emotional intelligence program as a keystone benefit, but does anyone wonder why they’re having to teach grown adults how to be compassionate and empathetic, how to have healthy debate, how to develop trust? The fact that they hire people who don’t have these basic interpersonal skills is alarming, and if you work here, you’ll see the lack of humanity most prominently in the senior leadership team. To be successful here, you need to keep your head down and mouth shut and look past a lot of red flags.

We value all forms of feedback and view it as a learning opportunity to continuously improve. Our Mindful Emotional and Social Intelligence program (MESI) was built on the core belief that everybody wants and deserves to thrive. We developed MESI to help our team members lead with empathy, practice compassion, communicate clearly, and to choose how they respond to life rather than react to it. Our team members routinely tell us that MESI has a positive personal and professional impact, and we’ll continue to offer this program in service of our team members’ growth. We invite our team members to give attributed feedback in a variety of ways including pulse surveys and recurring Town Halls with our CEO. It is our belief that this gives us the best opportunity to respond to feedback and learn more. However, we know there may be times when someone wants to provide unattributed feedback, so we include a link to an anonymous survey in our Friday updates. There is always room to improve the employee experience; we appreciate all feedback that helps us work towards that goal.

Pros

Compassionate team mates and a great PTO package

Cons

While the company promotes curiosity and compassion, their own leadership does not practice it. There’s some very problematic culture that the company will have to be bold in addressing in order to retain diverse talent.

Feedback is critical to helping Brighton Jones evolve and be a ‘best company to work for.’ We’re always looking for ways to improve and as a company with a culture of open feedback, we actively encourage our team members to share candid and detailed input via pulse surveys, annual engagement surveys, town hall Q&A sessions, 1:1 meetings with your manager, and even an anonymous feedback portal. We know every employee has unique needs, and we hope to be a place where all employees feel seen, heard, and cared for. Brighton Jones’ core is its people, and that’s why we’ve invested so much time, resources, and care in supporting our amazing teammates. We invite you to follow up with your manager, Richer Life Partner, or other member of the People Team to start a conversation.
