Pros

The company is theoretically solid. Presents themselves well. Growing. Great benefits. Good core principles. Consistent messages and design. The lovely residents were the most wonderful part of the day to day.

Cons

If you know, you know. It's the same dirty little open secret of every single solitary senior care business on earth: everyone is going to pretend to do the right thing and pretend to recognize you, the frontline worker, as their bread and butter...and it's all hot steaming garbage. The management is generally horrible, be prepare to be treated like a complete idiot at the best of times and a toy at the worst of times. Even when you're hailed as the best employee in the building, and even when you can see you're trying too hard. Those who do nothing, or even make the place worse, will get a pass on anything and everything. Friends get hired and inane cliques reign free. People with no business being promoted get ED positions and can do nothing, or anything they want like abandoning their job for several weeks then returning as if nothing happened. On the flip side, if you are a normal human being doing a job any of these highschool-bully level management saps can see as "lowly" because you have to wear nonslip shoes while they have desks, prepare to be dragged for saying the wrong words, for calling out the negligence of others, for reporting abuse, for wearing the wrong shirt (even the ones they give you), and no amount of delivering on expectations, overdelivering and overextending, caring extra for residents, working extra hours, providing extra coverage, making things easier for anyone else, or being exposed to covid when they knowingly allow you to enter covid-positive residences...none of it will garner you anything. Work at a movie theatre, it is way more fun and way less stressful and you get to work with real teenagers instead of stunted adults living in the same social sphere...and you don't have to watch people get hurt and die because of it.

Brightview Senior Living Response

Thank you for providing your feedback. Brightview spends considerable time and resources to be a great place to work for all 4700 associates, the majority who work in frontline positions. For the last three years, Brightview was recognized as the #1 senior living company by Fortune Magazine. We were also honored as a Fortune Top 100 Companies to Work For across all industries in the United States. This ranking is based on an annual anonymous survey of almost 200,000 associates who work in the senior living industry – the majority of which are frontline caregivers, dining servers, housekeepers, activities assistants, and maintenance technicians. 90% of responders to the survey said that Brightview is a great place to work, 92% say they feel pride in their accomplishments, and 94% say they feel welcomed. Additionally, we provide a year-round hotline that associates can use to anonymously report any management concerns they have, which the Home Office will investigate. Regional directors visit the communities frequently, providing another layer of oversight and advocacy for all associates. It is our intent that every associate feels engaged, valued, and rewarded for their contributions. If you are a current associate, we would appreciate the opportunity to review your specific concerns.

Pros

I just completed an almost 4-year run with Brightview senior living. I was an executive director at two properties that were start up’s. Start ups are very challenging, but the Brightview philosophy and start up support was something that was stellar. In particular, Anita R. is an individual whose precision and attention to detail made my job easier. Brightview’s director of talent acquisition may not only be one of the most intelligent individuals I’ve ever encountered, but she is relentless in finding the organization top quality individuals to help run the communities. The design and construction team constantly look for ways to modify and improve upon their last project… Which only enhances the lives of the residents that live there, and makes the job of the people that work there that much easier. Finally, the culture of the organization is top notch. You really know that the leadership of the company care about you as a person first, and as an employee second.

Cons

In any company you will have a con or three. While there will always be the occasional bad apple… It certainly does not spoil the bunch and the good of this organization incredibly outweighs the bad. And there is very little bad to be said.

Pros

Moving my family to New Jersey to become a part of this team was the best decision I could have made. Having worked for other senior living providers in my career, it is my opinion that Brightview's unique approach to resident independence and choice that make it so successful. I am not just the Executive Director of the building, but the Captain of a team of vibrant, dedicated associates who enter the community each and every day with a mindset to providing an excellent experience for our residents, families, and each other. We have everything that we need to succeed. Our expectations are set out for us in a consistent, easy to follow manner. Those questions that we do have are answered by our supporting regional and home office team. We have the autonomy to provide a tailored experience to our residents, and empower them to enjoy the communities to the fullest, yet we have the support when opportunities or challenges arise. Personally, I know that many ED's have felt "alone" at the helm of the ship with other providers (or at least that their compass might be broken, pulling them in different directions). My experience with Brightview has never been this way. My RDO provides feedback, support, and guidance, without micromanaging the community. Further, I feel recognized for the work that I do and the achievements we make as a community. I know that I have a "voice", and my team knows that they, too, are valued. I've never felt badgered or beleaguered into writing a review; in fact, I only felt prompted after seeing reviews that others had. It's unfortunate that others have had a negative experience, and the only opinion I can offer is my own. I know that when I have an issue or concern, there is a wealth of experienced, knowledgeable team members, be it our community front line, fellow ED's and Department Heads, regional support, and our home office team there to assist in whatever way they can. Thank you, to my community and Brightview, for continuing to be a great place to work and live.

Cons

None that I can list.
