Pros

- The residents and staff were great!

Cons

- Management has free meals all the time, but lowly staff has to pay for their own. - Management also ignored staff at the company Christmas party, put themselves in for the prize drawings, walked away with prizes while several staffers got nothing...then took themselves out for a separate "managers Christmas party" on another day. Very unethical. It's like stealing from your employees. - They hire 23-24 year olds as DIRECTORS. While that may be legal, I would not put my parents in a home run by a kid fresh out of college...even if they are just in charge for a weekend. - Very dysfunctional systems that management can't find what should be simple solutions. How do they keep getting things wrong in dining and activities, then continue to justify it?? Residents are not idiots. - Promises of advancement and leadership training, but they don't follow through with it. - HR sends out e-mails to staff asking them to post positive reviews online to boost their ratings for the public. - Many residents are unhappy with services, but certain homes keep winning awards because they make MONEY!!

Pros

Ok pay and benefits, free parking.

Cons

Most of the managers that have been there long term would never make it at another company. Their behavior has been allowed to become unprofessional over time, there is a lot of gossiping, rumors and daily drama. Almost every key/upper level executive hired in the last 2-3 is no longer with the company. The company and the communities have significant turnover and retention issues and hiring practices are a mess. Nothing wrong with taking a job for the money, but keep the resume updated and continue to look for better options.

Brightview Senior Living Response

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to your concerns. To ensure that Brightview is a great place to work, a consulting company surveys our associates every year, so associates can share any concerns in an anonymous format. Year after year, our associate satisfaction scores are among the highest in the senior living industry, and we have won awards for being a Best Place to Work every year during the last 6 years. Even though we have one of the lowest turnover rates in the industry, we are highly focused on ways to decrease turnover – including a rigorous hiring process to find qualified associates. While our previous CFO did leave after a year and a half, all of our leadership team members hired in the last 7 years are still at the company. Since we’ve never had a VP of IT, we aren’t sure who you are referencing. Thanks for your review, and we wish you well in your career.

Absolutely the best place I've ever worked

Pros

If you want to come to work every day with enthusiastic, caring people, this is the job for you. This is a special culture that starts at the top - the CEO not only knows everyone's name, but she remembers their spouses and kids' names, too - so associates aren't just a number here. The company goal is that a great place to work will be a great place for the residents to live, so there is a big emphasis on promotion from within. There are people who started as dining servers who then went into housekeeping, then to caring for residents, then to director-level positions ... if you are service-oriented and really want to make a difference in people's lives, you can make your career here. The communities are beautiful, but the real magic of the company is in the people that are hired.

Cons

I really can't think of any cons. This is the first place I've worked where I frequently tell my friends about all the great things that are happening at my job.
