Pros

I went from working for Allstate to Brightway so I had more markets to learn from and gain experience. They also used a lot of technology that later on was a plus on my resume.

Cons

Unfortunately, the office I worked for was own by an agent who lacked professionalism as well as ambition. The way he worked and interacted with staff members and clients was not leading the office to succeed. Cooperate at the time did not have any systems in place to support employees. It was up to the office owner.

Pros

Corporate handles all service work. Dozens of carriers to offer. My office was salary + commission. Friendly and helpful office staff.

Cons

You are on your own during web-based training, which is obscenely technical and overly complicated. Then you are literally on your own to hit the ground running immediately and make sales sales sales, while also attempting to learn all the complex office software & carrier site requirements. Was never informed during the interview process that cold calling is a major part of the job. Was told I'd be given plenty of leads the first 90 days as my own leads became established. Total lack of communication from management. Was given no direction whatsoever, just a couple of generic training fliers. Unless you're a mindreader and know exactly what your agency owner prefers / expects from new agents, have crazy experience from somewhere else, or are a marketing super star from day one you won't be given a fair chance & you'll be canned without any prior notice or counseling.

Pros

Paid training courses for Insurance and Customer Service licensing, Paid Holiday, Benefits package Retirement package

Cons

Insurance is a mandatory thing in our world and when disasters happen tensions are high, for obvious reasons, but it makes you empathize so much it could be distracting at times
