Pros

Bristol Farms is a "Great" company to work for if you enjoy working with the public. The customers appreciate good service and the great foods Bristol Farms provides; their gratitude turns work into fun! I find working with creative, talented employees rewarding; throw in teamwork and positive attitudes and who could ask for more? The varity of career opportunities for those seeking advancement are more extensive than one might imagine are available in a retail operation. Bristol Farms not only promotes from within, they offer extensive training oppurtunities along with raises for completing the education courses they offer. Managment oppurtunities are posted and employees who express an interest in advancement are encouraged to apply. Many of the company's leaders began in entry level positions. If you do the work, gain the knowledge and are determine to succeed, opportunities will present themselves.

Cons

It's retail 1/ Expect to spend much of your holiday time with co-workers. It's not all bad we actually have fun! 2/ Occasionally you get an upset customer; fine tuning your ability to satisfy a customer is a must! 3/ For those hired on as part time but seeking full time employment quickly you'll need to have the right attitude, work hard, have a thirst for learning all about food and have the ability to provide excellent customer service skills.

Pros

None. There are no positive aspects that come with working for this particular company unless perhaps you work at corporate, hold a higher management position and or are related to someone who holds a higher management position.

Cons

Company does not do a good job at keeping associates safe. Management fails consistently at executing their respective jobs and much of the responsibility falls heavily on associates who hold lower positions. Company is also extremely racist. Management will readily hire African Americans but few are promoted to management positions and even those people who are promoted have substantially lower salaries. African Americans who hold hourly clerk positions are also paid substantially lower hourly wages than other clerks. Working conditions fail to comply with OSHA standards. I believe management ignores this issue in order to maximize profits. The company consistently breaks many laws during its daily operations. I've seen handicapped spaces blocked during remodeling at the respective store I work at as well as others. I've seen sewage leaks take place on location, evidence of vermin and other incidents that would indicate possible endangerment to the public's health, all whilst the store continue to operate. Management also authorized construction operations that were harmful to working employees’ health to take place during operating hours. At the store I work at, jackhammering took place 10 - 30 ft. from where I was and I nor any other regular associates were given any of the protective required equipment (eye and ear protective gear etc.).

Pros

After switching companies from Safeway, I started from the bottom in the deli in 2007 at Bristol Farms in Mission Viejo, determined to go forward. Catering Manager was on my mind and, 6 months later, accomplished that goal. Closure of that store sent me to Newport Beach where I became a co-catering manager. Large store-humongous catering orders! Bristol Farms is one of the most happiest places I have worked during my adult life. They are always willing to teach you, to make you the best that you can be for the company. I was happy driving to work just because of the ethics of the others who I worked with.

Cons

Company values are so political. Working your way up - they cab take it away with a pay cut and demote you to part time on paper. I continued to work 40-60 hours/week. Politics and money!
