      Brocade had a world class ASIC department before the company decided to downsize the department.

      Pros

      Competitive compensation. Nice campus. Reasonable work/life balance. Friendly and accommodating department management. Civilized work environment. Better software opportunities than ASIC/FPGA.

      Cons

      The ASIC department and projects have been scaled down. Company is very conscious about ASIC development costs and hesitant to make the investment. Hopefully there will be new projects in the future but as of now, there is more emphasis on merchant silicon. Software prospects should be better.

      Leader in their market with bonuses to match

      Pros

      Bonus plan during the boom times were phenomenal. Time off and work life balance were reasonable. Upper management had visionary plans

      Cons

      Bonuses were cut back when they realize they were very generous. Visionary plans didn't quite work out (Foundry acquisition). Management culture expected some deep technical knowledge even from staff in non-technical positions.
