It's a job, not a career.

Pros

Weekly pay, decent benefits, paid time off is average after your second anniversary. There are a few good people in mid-management to work for/with still trapped in this company.

Cons

Communication is terrible. Compensation for most everyone outside of higher management positions is below average. Route computers are old and often break. They're just repaired and reused, we can't get new equipment. Raises either don't happen, or don't keep up with the increase in the cost of living. Friends and family are first pick for any new job or promotion. There has been a push towards building a more "lean" company. It was needed, but they went too far. We're lean to a point now where quality of work, sales volume, and employees suffer. If you take a day off don't expect someone to fill in and do your work for you, they'll do the bare minimum and leave the rest for you to catch up on later. Incentives and commissions are a joke. Management gets their bonus, plus prizes and trips for achieving certain goals. Knowledge gained from experience and historical analysis should drive promotions, marketing and the efforts of our sales force. Instead we waste time making sure we sell in some low volume product so a manager can get a prize. The company wants people on commission to all earn about the same thing, which defeats the whole purpose of commission. We usually have a meeting each year where the CEO blames the company's problems on the economy and the government. Neither have been great for a beverage company lately, but Buffalo Rock isn't going to make a huge impact on the economy or government. There are lots of opportunities for improvement inside the company and the focus should be there.

Pros

They have a good 401k program.

Cons

First of all, let me say that PEPSI Co is a completely different company than Buffalo Rock. There is NO STRUCTURE. OK, Our management team has it ALL wrong. (AND i completey agree with the earlier comment about the managers all being related in some way. It's the most politically ridiculous clique of misfits i've ever seen in my life) They created CDR positions in Birmingham to combine merchandising and account management positions on the Bulk side and accounts were added to the already existing routes (twice the work and more) and ALL were given a HUGE pay cut 1/1/2013 after promises of raises in a joke commission-based system. Base pay is less than a waffle house employee. Commission rates are adjusted to make it "Fair" for everybody so if you sell ten times more than somebody else and work ten times harder, you usually come out making less than the individual selling less than half of what you do and work half as many hours(we were actually told this word for word in a meeting! INSANE!) There is no support. We are stretched so wide and thin now there is no support to promote sells. Our management doesn't care to get us help to promote sells and get the product that we order out because of the earlier mentioned "BOTTOM LINE." Our salaries can be given to kids off of the streets that have no skills at all because they pay nothing for training. "Nobodies" are thrown into the fire everyday just to quit weeks later because the work is too hard for the pay. All while our bosses are flying to new york, and new jersey on pointless "business" ventures and playing golf and sitting on the beach. They all have brand new company vehicles(NICE), play in Pepsi sponsored golf tournies all the time, go to Pepsi sponsored concerts(ALL DURING WORK HOURS) Nobody cares about their people anymore and this company is no exception. We are habitually lied to on a weekly basis about how we are getting paid and what we are getting paid within our "commission system."(highly entertaining to listen to lower-intellect individuals try to graphically describe a blatant lie!) I work HARD 50-60+ hours a week and sell an average of 15,000-30,000 dollars, sometimes 50,000+ and as much as 65,000 a week in product sells and promotions and i bring home no more than 450 a week and that is a GREAT check. AND i'm single so i don't pay much insurance at all. Black hands, calloused hands, feet throbbing, stinking like heck, everyday working hard as heck (which i have no problem with at all btw as long as i'm being somewhat compensated for my duties) I completely agree with the mental problems affiliated with working for this company. It is absurd for the people that have great ethic and care to do a great job day in and day out just to work for people that do not care at all about their employee partners. It is impossible to get our jobs done. They want VOLUME, SELLS, and new products sold in weekly, and we can't get the stuff we already carry out in the stores because we have no help. I have crazy good speed and my logistics are epic and i can't even begin to describe how this company cannot handle primary ads in grocery stores in any way, shape, or form. All while our bosses are sitting on their rears in their offices bringing home 2000 a week while we kill ourselves for peanuts. Our convenience account managers are lucky to bring home 450 a week(That's a 20,000 dollar a year decrease from Pepsi, CO employee partners) Our truck drivers make a max of 45,000 a year. They are also based on a ridiculous "Commission system" Side-Load drivers bring home 400 a week and they KILL themselves. Honestly, nobody believes any of us when we tell them how much we make because we work at a "Prestigious" company like Pepsi. 5 years ago, this company had it going on. I understand completely about our country and economy detriment, but this goes way beyond all. Especially when we are told we are up 2 percent in revenue in 2012 as a whole. That's millions of dollars btw.. Needless to say, this is a Terrible company to work for. I wouldn't recommend it to a mortal enemy and i don't have a mortal enemy..

Pros

People seem friendly at first.

Cons

Do not come to work at Buffalo Rock and plan on being able to support a family. Most employees have to work two jobs to make ends meet. Plan on hearing every secret of every employee while you are there. Then plan on hearing yourself being talked about like your not even there. Management is terrible. Managers talk to their employees like they were a bum on the side of the road. I am now under fire for an employee threatening me in front of the supervisor, and I informed the supervisor I was leaving for the night. However, nothing was said to the employee for threatening me, and the supervisor claims we were all just working and I disappeared. Most employees openly speak about drug use, and claim they cant pass another drug test. When an incident occurs that requires a drug test management fixes the problem so it doesn't have to be reported and they don't have to pay for a drug test. Finally, when corporate approves raises for your department, don't count on it. Corporate approved higher pay twice, and they division management denied it twice. Where does that money go?
