Pros

The people that work here are fantastic

Cons

Sales leadership fails on a large scale. I have noticed that all of the recent Negative reviews (around a dozen or so) have disappeared. The positive reviews I see are nothing but HR and recruiting attempting to save face and make this company look like a great place to work. It ISN'T. Leadership is awful. When you can find one on the floor, they usually know less about the job than you do. The old saying of "those who can, do. Those who can't, become supervisors."

Pros

-Good People, even in management. -Stong pay (for Chico)

Cons

-The fun culture is on its way out with the growth. As to be expected but worth mentioning. -You don't go to work for good people, IMO. -Lack of honesty as information trickles down. Multiple times different managers had given entirely different direction and rule set. -It is a great place to work but not for everyone. -Ask anyone you might know to get the best idea of how bad these can get^

Pros

Build is an expanding company and already one of the leaders in the online home improvement retail space. They have fantastic benefits, including; flexible paid holidays, 3% 401k matching, a stock purchase program, and will be switching soon to blue cross healthcare (In my opinion the best HC provider for northern CA) Leadership understands the importance of a work-life balance. They are accomodating of doctor and dentist appointments, family obligations and personal days. The company values the mental and physical health of its employees. The company has been maturing and career pathways are being developed as the number of employees expands. Previously this wasn't as defined and in some cases, in order to advance your career, you'd have to drive your own initiatives and prove their worth. Leadership in my department (Merchandising and Marketing) is very strong. It is evident that they communicate well with one another and their employees. I feel confident that my manager has my best interests in mind and their primary focus is taking care of their team. We have, within the past year, had a new company President take over. His strategy is much different from the previous president and he is currently pushing initiatives to drive long-term growth and success.

Cons

Because of the recent switch in Leadership, there are still some miscommunications that occur between managers. The pay is good relative to jobs in Chico, yet low or mid-range compared to jobs in competing markets. Not all departments seem to be on the same page, levels of cooperation and communication vary which can be frustrating.
