Pros

Work with amazing, smart, talented, motivated people. Usually. If you bust your a**, you'll get noticed, but you do have to put yourself out there. One of the Build.com values is "Work Hard, Play Hard" and they mean it. Not a good place for lazy or sneaky people. A great place for self-motivated, dedicated and fun people.

Cons

Can be stressful, lots of money to deal with and worry about. Goals are sometimes set for you and it can be daunting.

Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated. I couldn't agree more with your advice to management. Its important that everyone understands how everything works here and what everyone else does. I've been making that mandatory, and plan on continuing to do so.

Pros

There's no one way to review Build.com because it's an amalgamation of people, departments, and cultures. You need to know about the area you want to work. If you interview, ask all the questions, we're not shy. We'll tell you the truth. Build.com is not one thing, but we are more than the sum of our parts. The overwhelming majority of people here are filled with passion for the job, whatever job they're doing, and the people I work with have a strong sense of pride about what they do and how they do it. It's cliché, but you do get out of this job what you put in. Expectations are high across the board and most folks start with themselves. I've greatly enjoyed my years here and I'm looking forward to however many years I have left. I know the work will stay exciting, because there's never a dull moment.

Cons

As a small company grows into a large company, it gets hard to adjust your mental approach to the new responsibilities. The past is the past and the good old days maybe weren't always so good. There are times when something akin to culture strife rises up, but in general it's dealt with in an appropriate manner.

A great review as well as great advice. Its hard when you are growing quickly, and we have a culture of process being "icky" so we're very considered when we have to create any. Thank you for your feedback, duly noted!

Pros

1. Great Benefits 2. You feel great coming to work. A bad day at Build is a good day at a lot of other places. 3. Free Food, Fun Culture, Growing Company Overall this company is a great place to work and flexible since there is so many shifts you can choose from.

Cons

1. They hire more of bosses then leaders for supervisors. 2. The culture sometimes makes the company feel more of a frat house then an actual place of work. 3. Mainly the people. There is a lot of negative and hard to work with people that has been at the company for 5 years plus that should be released and let go.

Glad we see eye to eye on the cons. We try to keep the environment very light. If you're looking for somewhere more formal, Build is most likely NOT the place to work. Sorry to hear that a major con for you here is your co-workers. You are right however on the bitterness of some. Some people don't like change, and we are a rapidly evolving organization. Over time, these people find their way out. We're consistently encouraging those who no longer are a fit to try and find a home elsewhere.
