Pros

Excellent place to work if you are ambitious and want to grow your career. Best part of the company is that they promote based on merit and ability instead of time spent in a role, meaning that if you prove yourself early and often, you can expect advancement quickly. Furthermore, they are quick to create roles that currently don't exist if you can prove that there is a need for that role, so you aren't tied to some archaic org chart with delineated paths of advancement; you can be a 'pioneer' and start your own path. Finally, despite the accelerated growth within the organization, they still maintain the mentality of the start-up I joined years ago. Not bureaucratic, welcoming of all ideas, and things move incredibly quickly.

Cons

Not necessarily a con, but since we maintain the start-up mentality, things can change rather quickly. You can be working on a project one day for an initiative, then have the entire initiative scratched the next and be moved to something else. If you are the type that likes a clearly defined path forward that is nice and neat and moves at a consistent pace, probably not the best place for you to work.

Propaganda, political miasma & debauchery rampant

Pros

Easy going environment, friendly staff

Cons

Some of the worst mid level managers around, considering it claims to be an innovative software company. Product technology is out dated and lacks great innovation. Upper management Gives more importance to sales staff than most other departments combined. Shoves propaganda down all employees' throats, to the extent where it actually insults one's intelligence. There are some inhuman practices taking place in support, such as the policing and penalising of bathroom breaks, among other things. There are a lot of internal politics at play, particularly for promotions, and some of the most incompetent people are assigned to manage teams of young developers, analysts, engineers, which leads to a high turnaround of staff and low retention of good employees.

Wow, you have a lot of strong opinions, which I wish you'd shared with HR before your departure. Glassdoor is a great forum for feedback, but when we see reviews like this we wish we had more insight into why you left feeling this way. Let's set up a time to talk kcastelda@bullhorn.com.

Pros

Bullhorn is an industry leader, and has attracted a bevy of talented, motivated, and friendly employees. Working there was a pleasure, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Cons

Being a fast-growing company, there is a learning curve that doesn't only apply to employees, but the managers, as well, as the company must adopt new standards, systems, etc. This isn't a negative for all -- if you like an environment where you can play an active role in establishing these norms, it's great.

Thanks for this feedback. This is definitely an area where we could improve - making it easier for managers to ramp up. We need to up our game here.
