Pros

Great pay, nice health/retirement benefits. DSS building is centrally located downtown.

Cons

Toxic environment. The only thing you will ever hear from your coworkers is how much they hate working there. Inadequate training followed by unreasonable caseloads for new staff. Staff are called "workers" rather than by their official titles. Supervisors and division heads are incompetent- unable to use even the most basic technology. Caseworkers are treated like peons. The great pay and title of the agency may convince you to take the job, but be warned: turnover is high and everyone wants out.
