Pros

You manage the program and people.

Cons

A lot of stress every month- the higher management will push you very hard to fill the monthly quotas. Unfair incentive /compensation structure. They will keep change the rules to penalize you so that you will not get incentives you deserve.

Pros

Little supervision Set your own structure Working with students/seeing results Building relationships with families Training-how to sell

Cons

During my interview, the district manager had the nerve to ask if I was married. I still took the job because I wanted the position. $35k base salary-offer letter stated that I would earn at least $15k in commission. There were many dry months where I had to live off of just my base. Monthly commission was not always easy, you had to hit a specific amount to even get paid-which you would earn a min. of $400, it's not much after taxes. Found out from other directors that there are a few that were able to get either $40k or $45k salary. So annoyed when I found out. District manager is always calling you after EVERY single meeting that you would have with a family. "What happened? Why didn't they sign up?" STRESSFUL No work/life balance: work from 1-9:30 pm and Sat 9-5. Forget about doing activities with family/friends. So many events that I had to skip out on. No flex time if you had to leave early. 5 days of PTO during your first year, 13 days after 2 yrs of employment. District manager would always try to make me work on my day off (Fri or Sun) especially at the end of the month to make that money. They hire a bunch of Koreans. I'm not racist at all but many of the employees are. Two people told me that I shouldn't hire an African American as my assistant because it doesn't look good for the center. Raises: this is a performance based position which at many times it's hard to meet your monthly/quarterly sales goal. You could be short just a few hundred dollars and still not make your goal. With that said, you could be just a few hundred dollars away from getting that raise. When the center closes due to inclement weather, you have to work on a day off. You end up spending half the day at home canceling sessions for students and tutors. All about sales, they forget about customer service and ongoing training for tutors. School and merchant visits-EVERY single month. The guidance counselors get sick of seeing me Turnover rate is high-too many employees come and go New HR team-useless. They really don't help the centers with anything. I was told to do any job postings on my own (ie. Craigslist) because HR will do all of that. They were not creative enough to find tutors. I still did my own postings to get candidates. Tutors cancel sessions/hard to find caring tutors/highly specialized tutors were hard to come by-1. limited 2. C2 didn't pay enough

Pros

Get to train your multi tasking skills, communication skills, and admin skills at a very fast-paced center

Cons

Being the one of the two only staffs (the other one is the center director, which means you are basically doing everything) at a company that always prioritize sales/budget, you have to do things that are sometimes random and degrading (have been asked to clean the toilet once). After a while, you just felt like this place does not worth your time and effort anymore. Management is just terrible. No work/life balance, weird hours, no consecutive time off, hard to take ANY time off (again, due to poor management; managers only care about center performance/profits, but pay no attention to staff's well-being)
